The reviews have 5/5 stars…. do I agree with this? I most certainly do agree with this.

So what do I think?

This course gave me a great detailed insight and understanding into the world of Art therapy.

The introduction is set up well and very explanatory. I have not done a course with Libby before, I like her style and her obvious passion of her subject and it shows throughout that she is confident in it and enjoys sharing her knowledge.

I like that you do not have to buy expensive materials to take part and yet still be able to learn and create amazing work. This is also good when looking into using these techniques to help others in therapy either at work or to help a friend / family member who may have a need for art therapy.  I use art and craft personally as a hobby but I also have experience as a health care professional. As a nurse and I have in the past done “craft” things with my previous patients. I think this course would be perfect for anyone in the healthcare setting as you do not have to be a art therapist to be able to apply some of these techniques.

I like how the course is set so that it speaks in laymens’ terms but not in a bad way. It makes it much easier to follow for people with all abilities when the tasks are clear and concise. In addition to being clear Libby has also included very detailed work of her past students which for me personally was a major advantage as it helped me to further understand the sorts of things that I could do to interpret the question and tasks. These were also diverse and personally I had a go at all the techniques that previous students used as well and finding my own interpretation just so that I would learn more.
In the first of these I created a piece of work that is totally different from anything that I have ever created before and I love it. It is so nice to be able to learn new things.

Parts of this course is research and I’m guessing you can go however far you like with this… personally I like research and I ended up digging deeper than I probably needed too and almost writing a full blown essay on what I thought about the meaning of cave paintings 😂 however this is not entirely necessary I’m sure!

The only thing that I could possibly say that i would change (and im really being picky here so i give a thorough review) is that during some of the lectures the music is very loud and repetitive and when there is alot of writing to read can be distracting for some.  I found it a struggle to read so much writing with the music.. however like i did (when i remembered i had a volume button on my laptop!) it is simple to just turn the volume off for these parts of the lessons.

The ability to have this work as part of CPD is a bonus and I think this makes this course more attractive to anyone thinking about doing this.

Would I do more of Libbys courses and would I recommend others to do this one? Not only would I say a definite yes to recommending the course but I would strongly suggest you just jump in and do it…. Don’t wait and think your come back to it… just enrol and you will find that you won’t regret it. I would just say be prepared to learn lots… not only about art and art therapy but also about yourself. It is a amazing journey in both instances.
